Blackhead Extractor

A comedo remover is essentially a blackhead extractor. It is typically a small tool but there are other devices and machines designed to do the same thing. Some of these work with a small motor to vacuum as pressure is applied to the blemish. Others use a plunger to create a vacuum but are used in the same manner. This kind of implement can be useful when used in tandem with an acne related system - check out exposed skincare reviews for further information.

These tools and machines are part of a skin care arsenal that includes a vast array of instruments designed to be used at home in most cases but some are meant for use by trained professionals. Use care when buying these because some of them can be harmful if used incorrectly. Most are safe and do work but it's always important to read and follow the directions in the manual. If using an acne treatment such as acnezine and sulfa drugs then check the compatability here as well.

A blackhead extractor may not come with directions but there are some incorrect uses of them. First they are only intended to be used on small surface blemishes. Comedo removers should never be used on larger skin lesions. Pustules, cysts, nodules and boils will not respond to pressure applied by this small hand held tool. Any attempt to use this on them will only result in damage to epidermis and may cause the lesion to rupture spreading the infection to surrounding tissue. Sufferers here would be better using a specially designed system such as a proactive acne cream.

Additionally, this tool is made with a smooth surface which may slip when used near the eyes so don't! A dermatologist may offer to perform these removals in regular office visits. This may especially be a problem for older patients who sometimes develop large blackheads around the eyes. A health care professional can give the best advice here on skin care problems.

The use of any grooming tool by an elderly person may be hazardous. Something as simple as clipping the toenails needs to be performed by a doctor if a patient is elderly and diabetic. So it stands to reason that the use of facial grooming tools by an elderly person is dangerous. Their vision is often reduced and frequently their hands shake. Many of the grooming needs of the elderly need to be left to a professional. The same goes for their use of acne treatments so make sure to read up on exposed acne treatment ratings before choosing a system to use.
